Anyone know the significance of what looks like a Swastika on the fourth bomb from the end of Thumper’s tally?

Nice pics!
I notice that one of the bomb symbols on the Lancaster’s Thumper III logo has a ‘D’ on it.
I have never seen one of those before – does anyone know what it denotes?

I heard it was also his last flight in the Royal Air Force, but I stand to be corrected on that one, a fabulous display none the less, I wonder how many pilots of the RAF in recent years can say their last flight was in a Spitfire?
A very emotional time for him i’m sure…
Taxiing back to the BBMF after that last flight

Agreed.
Didn’t know where to look when the 2 Spits and the Hurricane split from the Lanc, and they each did their bit. It was just constant action.
Having now been to the last 5 occasions, I’m convinced that today the Lanc was the lowest I have ever seen. Even my 2 year old Grandson was in awe.
Sqdn Ldr Ian Smith’s last hoorah was similar to Grp Capt Stuart Atha’s a few years ago, and was a fitting end.

Well the weather gods played ball – just!
I guess the overall display was shortned by the advanicng weather front but there was still some excellent flying to see.
I enjoyed it all but I thought the Lanc display was particularly good this year and the departing OC’s sign-off display in the Spit XIX was also outstanding.
Hate the winter – roll on spring!
