Its very annoying that a minority group, formed with very good intentions to preserve the attractions of the National Park are then seen as being the voice for the majority, the majority that is who have important things to think of like jobs, schools, houses, bills and other dull everyday things.
The members of these groups, the CPRE being one, are happy to live with all the trappings of modern life such as mobile phones, cars, electricity and yet oppose roads, electricity pylons, wind farms, power stations, mobile phone masts and airports. I wonder how many fly to go on holiday or business.
Perhaps we need to form a society for the common man just to support the everday things in life. Rant over.

The neighbours ie-Shell island camp site did a poll, and pleasantly a majority voted FOR a reopened Llanbedr, some were looking forward to the planned air day on i think the 22nd August 2008,but paperwork, bureaucracy etc etc got in the way.Such ventures should be encouraged, where ever they should be based.Should relevant permissions be granted for Kemble to operate, the planned air day should be going ahead next year. There are enough merlins ON the hills and not enough in the sky. From my child hood i remember the gnats, meteors and sea vixens coming into land with the jindeviks, great days, and a great view from the main road too..

I know, I live on anglesey! I was referring to where some of the heads of the society live 🙂

Copied! I expect that they would probably close Valley too if they had the choice!

To be quite fair; Llanbedr is within the Snowdonia National Park, Valley is not. Still does not excuse the attitude of these people in my opinion.

The annoying thing is that all of those who are against the airfield live with modern possesions, cars which require roads/refineries/factories, telephones with masts/poles, electric goods with pylons/power stations and probably use airlines to travel on holiday or business BUT NOT IN MY BACK YARD.

Snowdonia society are a bunch of idiots. Period. It winds me up no end that the local community was devastated by the closure of raf llanbedr with the loss of many jobs, and that now a company is trying to do something with it, the ‘snowdonia’ society are opposing it!! Even though there is a 1200 signature strong petition supporting it from LOCALS, ‘Snowdonia’ society have one with barely 120 signatures from mainly TOURISTS who live hundreds of miles away…:mad::mad::mad:
