Local out of Denham by Cub

Yesterday evening, I had the opportunity nay privilige to scoot around the Chilterns in a Cub. Lovely evening, conditions CAVOK if a little hazy. Low and slow flying is very interesting. You see an awful lot of human activity on the ground, particularly in the NW of London. Fascinating to watch cars, cricket matches and the harvest taking place.

Here’s a few photos:

Speaks volumes about the security of Chequers with respect to potential airborne attack, doesnt it?

Most of the aircraft based outdoors were Cessna and Pipers (spam). There’s was this Chippy though (and Clive, contrary to popular myth, there are fixed wings at Denham! );)
Note Tower is distance.

HEWI is spending some time outdoors due it’s home, the old “M” hangar, being dismantled. Hence we spend some time locking and tieing down.

Looks good BlueRobin. Looks as though you had a great time too, and some nice snaps there from the air.

Cheers

Yours truly in the passenger seat. Sunset on the Cub yellow canvas makes for good colouring.

After about an hour’s wonder around the hills and valleys, we return back to Denham.

As I said, some interesting countryside. Too busy to take snaps of this, but here’s one of the Prime Minister’s country residence Chequers.

G-HEWI is a L4J with a C90 engine. Although G-INFO has it as a J3-65 (modified). The “greenhouse” windows are definately there so has to be military ergo L4.

Here’s your pilot for today (in the back) Roger Preston and me in the front
