If you’ll allow news of something other than ANOTHER Spitfire or Mustang being restored…here’s some really big news.
A Lockheed Vega has just flown after a major restoration. It’s one of the rare metal fuselage types.
I believe it’s the only Vega currently flying. For those of you not current on historic pre-war civil aircraft, notable owners/pilots included Earhart, Wiley Post and the UK’s own (and sadly overlooked) GlenKidson, all of which used the type for record breaking flights.
See video here on the Antique Aircraft Assoc. website:

I’ve got to visit the next time I visit my brother in Iowa.
The Vega is in Arizona. If you’re talking about visiting Antique Airfield at Blakesburg, Iowa, the only time to visit is the first weekend in September when they have the rather wonderful fly-in, although you do need to be an AAA member to attend. On the other 361 days of the year, Antique Airfield is an empty field.

Reading about Wiley Post and Winnie Mae was among the earliest of events that sparked my interest in aviation.
I’ve got to visit the next time I visit my brother in Iowa.
