As most of you should know, the South-East region of England is a bit short on regional airports, primarily because of the fact that the big airports that surround London (LHR/LGW/STN etc.) have such a wide sphere of influence that most people decide to travel from them instead.
I was wondering whether anyone can anyone tell me about the facilties at London Ashford, or Lydd as it is sometimes called. What aircraft can it handle?
I know that Lyddair operates a number of Trislanders out of there, but they only offer a daily flight to Le Touquet in France and the occasional charter. I also know that alot of you don’t take kindly to KIA as an international airport, so I am wondering whether there would be a market for services from London Ashford to destinations such as Isle of Wight (Bembridge), Jersey, Bordeaux, La Rochelle etc.
Any comments/suggestions welcome.

Lydd has been trying tobecome a London airport for ages. And in all that time there has been Le Tourquet flights and nothing else. I wish the airport well but I think any future expansion will be limited (maybe the Channel Islands or an extra destination in Northern France with Lydd Air)
