Hello
I had a few hours to kill in London on Friday, so took advantage of the excellent weather to spend some time at London City.
The reason I went was to see one of the BA A318s, and G-EUNB left for Shannon and New York shortly after I arrived:-

The Cityflyer Embraers were busy, including G-LCYN, the 700th Embraer Jet:-

The other main carrier is Cityjet, with RJ85s and Fokker 50s such as OO-VLL on her way to Rotterdam:-

There are plenty of other interesting visitors, including Blue Islands ATR-42 G-ISLF which operates a service to Jersey:-

Skywork 328 HB-AES provided some colour as the light faded:-

Another interesting 328 was Sun Air example OY-NCA:-

I hope the photos are of interest – shed loads more at http://www.flickr.com/photos/indiaecho/

Last time I was at LCY, maybe 6 years ago, there was an old building or facade facing the apron. Looked like it was part of the old Docklands. Anyone know what it is, please?

The A.318 is the transatlantic, but, it’s not mainline. It’s British Airways Ltd. a wholly owned subsidiary operating the two executive class A.318’s out of City.

It must have employed thousands of dock-workers. Apparently the iron bollards used to tie up the ships were merely burned off level with the concrete when the airfield was laid and now they throw the airliner compasses out of line

Some nice shots there. I guess the BA A318, was the transatlantic flight.

Thanks very much for the comments.
Longshot -the area has certainly changed since those photos, and it is interesting how it continues to change.

Thanks for the feedback – it is good to know that the photos are appreciated.
The 146 is hanging on at the airport (in the Avro RJ guise). Cityflyer is now an all Embraer operation, but Cityjet still provided a good few movements with the type, and although two of the Lufthansa flights were Embraer operated, they also sent a RJ85 as well.

Great airport, are the Embraer jets gradually taking over the BAE146’s now? Or are the 146 still thriving at the airport.

Lovely shots. 🙂

Mr Creosote – no problem posting the photos – I’m glad you enjoyed them.
I had used to be a regular passenger at the airport as well, using the VLM service to Brussels at least weekly, and it is fascinating how the airport has increased the range of services over the last few years, culminating in the JFK route. During my four hour visit there were very few (if any) periods when there was not something on the move.
I have had a pm for a photo of G-LCYM as well – here she is arriving from Zurich:-

Thanks very much for sharing. I used to love flying from LCY on Swiss a few years ago. Come a long way since virtually the only things there were Brymon Dash-7’s.
