Evening all,
Does anyone know what exactly will take part in the VE/VJ day flypast over London, on July 10th? Apart from some of the regulars, that will be at/are due to be at Flying Legends, like the BBMF and (hopefully) Sally B, etc etc.
Cheers
Tim

An extract from the IWM’s latest FLying Legends press release:
“On Sunday 10 July over 20 of the Second World War fighters and bombers appearing at the show, including the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Lancaster, Spitfire, Hurricane and Dakota, a B-17 Flying Fortress and a B-25 Mitchell, will be launching from the air show to take part in the Commemorative Flypast along The Mall, which will be witnessed by Her Majesty The Queen, members of the Royal Family and thousands of veterans and spectators in London.
Says Jane Larcombe of The Fighter Collection “We are thrilled to have been asked by the Ministry of Defence to send the flypast from the Flying Legends Air Show and to link up with the national commemoration. This will give visitors to the show a unique opportunity to take part in this important and historic day. Not only will they have the opportunity to see the aircraft taking part at closer quarters on the flightline walk in the morning but they will also be able to witness the flypast leave and return.”

Very True, I think I understood Civillian operated aeroplanes, anywho….it would be fantastic if these rules were relaxed for one day! 🙂

I didn’t think Single engine aeroplanes are allowed over Centre of London???
In theory yes – but it’s not stopped the Reds or the BBMF fighters in the past . . . .

According to Saturday’s Telegraph, Sally B will be taking part – she’s apparently gained a three month ‘extension’ to her insurance cover.
Before people jump in with comments about this, I’m just delighted that she’ll be there – let’s not forgot what this is all about.

Check the Notams
Have just registered with their site, how are you supposed to find out anything on there, or am I just thick, or is it too hot to be bothered.
