Met up with Andy (A330Crazy) for a few hours earlier today at Heathrow. Unfortunately, not too much international traffic, with movements being mostly British Airways, bmi or American Airlines.
Whilst waiting at Hatton Cross for Andy, I got a glimpse of the Air New Zealand 747-400 coming from Los Angeles. Didn’t get a shot unfortunately.
Shortly after 3.00pm we decided to call it a day. Departing traffic was moved from 27R to 27L and all arriving traffic which was flying over our heads soon disappeared to the far side of the airfield (27R). Was a good four hours though and the weather held up quite nicely. By the time we went, the sun had vanished and big black clouds formed over the airport.
Photographs
Please note that there are a total of 34 photographs shown below and together they are 10.8mb – not ideal if you’re using dialup!
Some are better than others with regard to the focusing and the light. With the cloud, the sun came and went quite often. Enjoy anyway!

Nice collection of shots there, was it you who used the Minolta Z1?
Nope. I use some shoddy Fuji digital thing. It has good features for the price it costs, but the images come out very soft around the edges. With a nice, big paycheck on the way, a new camera could be possibility.
Were you in Mrytle Avenue? It must be the best place for photos at LHR!
All good quality stuff.Dave
Certainly was Myrtle Avenue. I met up with Andy at about 11.00am and aircraft were arriving on 27L, so the best place to watch without any distractions was the grassy area at the end of the street. I think they usually change over at about 3.00pm, so we were expecting to have to move as the time approached.
Shortly after 3.00pm, aircraft started taxiing to 27L for departure and 27R was suddenly out of action, handling no aircraft at all. For some reason, aircraft continued to arrive on 27L whilst a queue of aircraft built up, none of them going anywhere.
Anyway, just my final six photographs from yesterday…

I wish an Il-96 would have come in, but I think the one you are referring to is actually a 777-200 :p
Yep you are right

Very nice shots Michael.
Especially like the 777 close ups (Aeroflot and Emirates) and KLM F50 shots 🙂
