Long delay on HUY-PMI flight..anyone know why?

I just noticed the Thomsonfly flight from Palma is due to arrive at HUY some 10h25m late? Departing flight(which is usually same a/c) is over 6 hrs late. Anyone know the reason? I assume a/c gone tech at Palma but delay seems extreme.

Ah, is going today at last:

BE730 BELFAST CITY 0845 *BOARDING – GO TO GATE*

Still cant understand why the cancelled the inbound, seems little sense in flying an empty plane over, suppose they know better than me.

Things still going badly at LBA this morning, the main appears to be the knock on effects from last night, the FlyBe cancelled again, nothing to do with visibility this morning, everything getting in so far.
BE729 BELFAST CITY 0820 CANCELLED

But interestingly it says this on the departure board…
BE730 BELFAST CITY 0845 DELAYED EST DEP 1200 DELAYED EST DEP 1200

At least they havent left the pax for 12 hours without telling them today!

The knock on effects from last night..
BD411 HEATHROW 0645 CANCELLED PLS CTC BMI CHECK-IN
T34711 ABERDEEN 0650 CANCELLED FLIGHT OPERATING FROM HUMBERSIDE
T34700 SOUTHAMPTON 0655 CANCELLED PLS CTC CHECK IN DESK 16 AND 17
BD611 BRUSSELS 0700 GATE CLOSED
BD612 BRUSSELS 1010 DELAYED

Just a typical LBA summer!

Britannia (Sorry… Thomson 😉 ) flight due into Gatwick from Samos at 4.00pm this afternoon, expected 18 hours late, so now arriving at 10.00am tomorrow)

Even Heathrow has been affected big-time by the delays. Flight LH4739 operated by Lufthansa to Frankfurt still shows up as delayed. Time is really pressing on, so I’d be interested to find out what exactly happens with this flight and whether it will even go at all.

Also really shocked to see that EVA Air to Bangkok and Taipei (flight BR68 – one that I’ve been on) departed its usual one hour late (like it did when I flew with them), but Thai (TG917 – another one I’ve been on) departed after the EVA flight. First time I’ve seen that happen!

I take it that if an airline provides coaches instead of flying you, you get a portion of your fare back? If we wanted to book National Express to our destination and spend 5 hours or more on the road, we would. And it would probably cost less than half what it does to fly.

I’m the sort of person that doesn’t do long journeys by road. It is by air or not at all.

I said the Eastern flights had diverted to HUY above.

Now looks like this at LBA:

T34707 SOUTHAMPTON 2020 FLIGHT DIVERTED TO HUMBERSIDE
BD616 BRUSSELS 2040 DELAYED EST ARR NOW 2310
BD498 PARIS CDG 2100 DELAYED EST ARR NOW 2300
BD420 HEATHROW 2155 CANCELLED COACHES FROM TEESSIDE EST 2330 EST ARR COACHES FROM TEESSIDE 2330

Not a good night!

Maybe so yeah, they will have facilities at those airports, plue MME will most likely not be very congested.

The ERJs must not have the facilities to land at LBA in this weather, surprised they are going to Teeside, you would have thought Doncaster or Humberside or even East Midlands were more likely.

Probably because BD dont serve HUY and DSA but doserve MME and MME will be nearer to LBA than EMA. Couldnt use MAN with the Eastern incident

Easy for us to sit here and laugh, but I would be incredibly angry if I was in there shoes!

Especially as the evening flight also appears to be operating normally:

Indeed, a very good assesment of the situation, would only cause more disruption, because you would then have to operate 736 after 730, and that would cause more disruption if the a/c was already down to operate another flight, meaning more delays for other airports.

Incidentally now says this:
BE730 BELFAST CITY 0845 CANCELLED

Now that would p!ss me off, waiting around from around 07:00 (Considering check in times) until 18:30 to then be told its been cancelled.

You’ve got to laugh! 😀

But I guess its anything but funny. I would also be extremely annoyed at Flybe if I were on this flight. Many of these passengers will have been hanging around for over 12 hours now and will be knackered. Now the airline goes and does that to them.

You would think the pax on 730 would have taken prioity really, hope it doesn’t happen when I fly them in August! Still says next info at 18:00 even though its now 18:28

If it were me making the decisions, then I wouldn’t want to delay any other passengers. Having the first batch of stranded passengers is going to be bad enough, but to delay another flight to free up an aircraft is going to make another load of passengers just as unhappy.

By making those passengers travelling on BE730 wait for the scheduled aircraft, you’ve got half as many unhappy customers as you would have it used the aircraft operating BE736.

Another diversion:
BD496 PARIS CDG 1705 FLIGHT DIVERTED TO TEESIDE

The ERJs must not have the facilities to land at LBA in this weather, surprised they are going to Teeside, you would have thought Doncaster or Humberside or even East Midlands were more likely. The LHR also has a delay, would think this is more likely down to slots at LHR than problems at LBA.
BD418 HEATHROW 1800 DELAYED EST ARR 1930

Unsurpsingly with the diversions/cancellations, is also affecting outbound flights:
T34715 ABERDEEN 1715 CANCELLED
BD407 EDINBURGH 1730 DELAYED
BD497 PARIS CDG 1735 DELAYED
BD615 BRUSSELS 1745 DELAYED

Another diversion..

BD614 BRUSSELS 1710 FLIGHT DIVERTED TO TEESIDE

But yet, an Eastern Jetstream has just got in?

T34705 SOUTHAMPTON 1715 LANDED 17:29

Never saw this earlier, this is some delay!

BE730 BELFAST CITY 0845 NEXT INFO 1800

The PAX must have been so angry when they saw this going out!

BE736 BELFAST CITY 1435 DEPARTED 15:00

I bet they were, too.

You would expect the airline to use the aircraft operating flight 736 to fly flight 730 instead, to put a stop to the delay, but I guess its better to delay one flight rather than two.

Not been a brilliant day for LBA delays wise… There was an extra Ryanair flight put on this morning to DUB, I can only assume last nights was cancelled the flight number has the flight number of last nights flights on it, when I looked it was due in about an hour late last night, and then around the time it was due in, we got a massive thunder storm so they might have decided not to bother. The ordinary Ryanair flight this morning was delayed an hour and a half, better not be next Wednesday, dont have much time in Dublin as it is!

Extra flight : FR1157 DUBLIN 1020 DEPARTED 11:00
Normal flight : FR153 DUBLIN 1050 DEPARTED 12:27

A few diversions this evening, visibility poor where I am, must be bad up at LBA.
T34714 ABERDEEN 1625 FLIGHT DIVERTED COACH FROM HUMBERSIDE EST ARR 1930
BD406 EDINBURGH 1700 FLIGHT DIVERTED COACH FROM TEESSIDE EST 1900
T34716 ABERDEEN 2010 CANCELLED PAX TO BE COACHED TO LBA FROM HUMBERSIDE
T34705 SOUTHAMPTON 1715 NOW DUE 17:00 HOLDING

Wouldnt think it was summer would you!

The EAL flight is now due in 28 and a half hours late as opposed to 22 and a half hours… not good!

The Air Atlanta flight from Sharm El Sheikh into MAN is due in about 18 hours late, and the FCA long haul flight is due in 24 hours late from Cancun.

The prediction by the LBA website of what time the Thomson flight was due in, must have been correct, the ZTH flight only departed 10 minutes late.

Now we have the Astraeus flight from Larnaca due in at 10:30 as opposed to 02:05. Good thing is they must have got in a different a/c to operate this mornings Reus, it only departed 30 minutes late.
