Long Marston's Aircraft

Following on from the various Sea Prince pictures that have popped up on the site in the last day or so I thought you guys may be interested in the Long Marston example. I photographed a couple of weeks ago.

Ive also enclosed pictures of the other aircraft in the compound at the site. I apologise now for the quality. They were either taken through a wire fence or over the barbed portion whilst muggins here was stood on something that H&S would have major issues with. Oh and did I mention that it was flippin cold and wet. Excuses out the way enjoy.

Nothing much has changed since that time. I do think that nimrod is a bit out of place though

The wings are from Sea Venom FAW22 . serial XG737. They are still their on trestles today. The pod is apparantly stored indoors somewhere or other.

Thanks for sharing the pics Arm Waver.Interesting and dare I say sad and frustrating to see how the aircraft appear to have deteriorated over the last few years.

Sorry – I should have put captions…
The wings were from a Venom. The engine IIRC was under the blue tarp and the rest was in the hangar and awkward to photo so I didn’t as I couldn’t get a decent clear shot adn there was no-one to ask if I could go in an take one.

…and before she moved on another Whirlwind.

IIRC this Whirlwind used to be at Sywell with the Nene Valley Aviation Society along with a HAR.10 version and a Vampire outside…

Id also make sure Gatwick got a fair chunk too. Oh me camera died got too wet and it was too windy to go climbing up the Gannet today 🙁 Got a couple of snaps of 773 shattered nose tho & XP 398 (lello whirlygig). Back to subject, im sorry it does pee me off alot to see valuable airframes left to rot even more so when the donut who owns them wont accept any help too. Bex

Can I have a Blue Peter badge too? Well if I ever win the lottery the first thing I’ll is buy myself a pair of working RR Avon 107’s, now that would REALLY wind the other half yippeeee. One of the reasons I got out of rail preservation is that visitors rarely got to see anything other than a working loco or a bloody great set of wheels from the ground and snotty empire building attitudes didnt help either. Your right Bex if they have no intention of doing anything but letting them rot then they should be passed on..

N/P Phantom Phixer Once I saw your pics up I figured someone had helped you out.
