Long Shot: Early 70's Liverpool Airshows…

Dear All…

My earliest memory, from either 1970 or 71 is going to an airshow at the old airfield at Speke…

The only thing i can remember is a BAC 1-11 in a white/red cheat line/silver livery coming in to land on the old runway. For years i thought it was British Eagle, but from chatting to the guys looking after Charlie Foxtrot last year, and looking at dates, this is impossible…

Any ideas on the airline and or her identity…?

Plus if anyone has any pictures id be more than grateful… might help jog my memory…!

Cambrian One-Elevens were regular visitors to Liverpool in the early 1970s, white and grey with a red cheatline. Don’t know if this is near enough.
This is G-AVOE in September 1970.

Dan Dare sorry i mean Air? 😉

Quick search of the net yielded this snap for comparison (not taken at Speke)

As one of the guys working on the Brit (who knows we may have met on your visit!) will ask around at the weekend for you – pretty sure at least one of the lads went from Eagle to Dan Air so should be able to gleam more information.
