I know it is a very long shot (always worth a try)…anyone know or was even in the ATC Squadron based at Truro Grammar school in 1946/47? I have very few details on them and the school itself only has a couple of articles on the squadron and nothing else. In particular I am looking for details on the airframe(s) they had during this time and if anyone has any particular memories of them….
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated

I’ve undertaken a quick scan of ‘Cadet Corps Airframes’ (MCAS 1975) and can’t find any mention of an airframe either with 730 Squadron or in Truro. But as this publication lists ATC/CCF airfames under their types, if you know what was believed to be at Truro Grammar School in 1946/7, I’ll look again.
I know its a very outside chance but does th elist you have show engines etc as well as airframes ?.The reason being an ATC unit around Yeovil area at the end of the war had at least one RR Peregrine engine from the Whirlwind fighter any lleads appreciated if anything is shown. In fact if it shows any such engines with any Cadet units around the Uk also info appreciated.

That would be perfect proplover…you are the first with any possible contacts from the late 40’s/early 50’s that I am after

My uncle who still lives in Cornwall often told me of flights from St Merryn in such things as a Mosquito and a Firefly as well as Gliding with his local ATC in the late 40’s and early 50’s – I’ll find out which Sqdn he was with.

No help here, but I’d be interested to know if you turned anything up about those early ATC years in Truro? I imagine the squadron would have gone gliding at St Merryn, and may have had links with RAF St Mawgan.
Any luck in your quest?

730 Squadron, had relocated to the old timber ‘Hut’ at Moresk Drill Hall by 1966 when I joined. There were no airframes or cockpit sections there then.
