Longest and shortest non-stop route out of LHR?

Was wondering which is the longest and the shortest flight out of Heathrow?

Buenos Aires (operated by BA’s 777-200) is 13hours40mins, could this take lead for longest?

Brussels or Manchester perhaps the shortest?

Out of curiosity, does anyone know the worlds longest non-stop flight? Must be a North America- Asia one, but which?

Thanks 🙂

Has an A380 ever operated Paris to London before.

Yes, Air France used theirs for a few weeks on CDG-LHR-CDG the year before last I believe.

Sorry, I’m not able to confirm that, but…

Newark-Singapore is flown by an A340-600, isn’t it?

SQ21 is operated by an A345, fitted-out in a 100-seat business class interior.

2nd longest LHR flight

Second longest LHR to Taipei on China Airlines – 13 hours 25 minutes? Just a thought.

Is this confirmed?

None of these operate now…but apart from the LHR-LGW helicopter link…British Midland used to fly LHR-BHX and LHR-EMA…also air Anglia/Air UK LHR-NWI. I have always thought LHR-NWI would be a useful link now, given traffice levels and the awful M25 !

Just to keep this thread going I have often wondered what is the smallest scheduled airliner (aircraft type) which currently flies into Heathrow, anyone know?

I think the smallest scheduled aircraft type is the ERJ145 of bmi regional perhaps? Do they also operate their ERJ135 into LHR?
This could be followed by Air France and their ATRs, not sure if they are still operational on the LHR-CDG route though.

Are we talking distance or time? Westbound flights are usual a tad slower, and take a bit longer for distance due to the Jet Stream.

I guess we can talk about both distance and time. Buenos Aires must be the longest Westbound, surely it is still the longest returning to LHR too?

Longest scheduled flight out of Heathrow is to Singapore.

Not so. From ba.com:

LHR-SIN is scheduled at 12h35 or 12h50.
LHR-EZE is scheduled at 13h40 as lucas has said.

Longest scheduled flight out of Heathrow is to Singapore.

Longest ever non-stop flight from Heathrow was to Sydney with a Qantas B747-400 on a delivery flight.

Based on scheduled times the shortest is probably LHR-MAN at 1h00 or 1h05 depending on which departure. AMS, BRU and CDG all come up as scheduled at about 1h10 or 1h15.

The only other thing that springs to mind as possibly shorter is LHR-JER but I don’t think anyone operates this route now, BA moved JER down to LGW and I think BD dropped the route.

And, to think, I’m always pulling up my Y7/8 boys for not reading questions.

Don’t forget the LHR/LGW/LHR helicopter service with a Sikorsky S61. Operated some time in the 80s.

Shortest one is, or at least was, easy. There was a Heathrow – Gatwick service by Islanders about 30 years ago. Westward Airways?

I think it is the Newark-Hong Kong at 15hrs 50min.

EDIT: Sorry, it turned out to be Newark-Singapore at 18hrs 30min.
