Some lessons to be learnt here.
I wonder if the trimmer was wound too far back, or even if the engine was producing full power.
Steep turn, and stall speed rises significantly.

That was last year I think, reportedly engine failure on take off. My suspicion is mixture was pulled instead of bringing the prop back!! Easily done, thankfully he walked away which is all that matters.

Bummer.
That sort of take off is fine once you have power and plenty of speed in hand. But in a draggy old Stearman it seems to have been asking too much.
