Met up with Kev, Geoff and Robbo at RAFM Hendon today, and I have to say, I’m outraged.
How, in this day and age, can such organisations be allowed to do things like this? They take a fabulous piece of engineering heritage, something which is close to many of our hearts, something we’ve discussed on here many times before, and they turn the lights out on it.
AND, as if that weren’t bad enough, they stick a bl**dy aeroplane on top of the poor thing as well.
Poor perch. 🙁
I’m going to write to my MP. 😡

I would think the main reason for using these supports is to reduce the strain on the tyres. Doesn’t seem unreasonable to me!

I totally agree, fortunately here down in NZ at the RNZAF Wigram Museum (best in the country) in Christchurch, they respect the displays and look awesome.
I’ll take some pics when I get there next month and post here.
Lancasters have 3 wheels when parked. I believe they should use them all at the same time !!
