All,
Bit of a long shot this but does anyone know of a picture of Dakota III KG340 “The Saint” which was lost 21st Sept during a resupply mission at Arnhem. It was one of 271 squadron’s aircraft based at RAF Down Ampney.
I know for a fact it also took part in the D-Day operations so there is a good chance there may be a picture of it outside of the Operation Market context.
Not sure if there is an *actually* picture of it, but it’s possible maybe it was caught in the background or is visible in a picture where a glider is the main focus.
I’m not sure what it’s “The Saint” emblem look like but I’d hazard a guess it was your typical stick figure with halo.
Any leads appreciated.

Thanks for that.
Got all of the written details just need a photo to go with it. Just to clarify, I’m not specifically looking for a picture of it during the Arnhem Op just at any point in it’s RAF career although in it’s 271 squadron guise would be nice. 🙂
