Looking for a project…

Forgive me if this is the wrong place to post this but I am new to this forum.

I have been a PPL holder and aviation enthusiast in the UK for many years however I have now been moved overseas with work for 3-4 years (Hong kong) where the aviation scene is pretty weak.

As such I am looking for a restoration project in the UK, ideally a Stearman, Jungmann or something of that vintage/type (I am very open minded).
My thought process is that I would provide the money for the restoration funded over the 3-4 years whilst away so I would end up with a fully restored aircraft when I return. That way I can “feed” my addiction whilst perhaps not being able to fly as frequently as I would like (the private aviation scene in Hong Kong is sadly awful). Plus of course return an otherwise sorry looking aircraft to where it rightfully belongs in the sky.

I guess my question to you experts is do you know of any suitable companies that you could recommend who are capable of sourcing a project and taking it on a rebuild like this? Have you taken on a project like this before and are there some obvious pitfalls I should avoid etc?

Any help you can give would be happily received, I have thought about this for some time now and am determined to get this underway in the next few months.

Many thanks for any help/advice that you can give

P.S. I am aware that the above is financial suicide… fortunately I am now in a position where I can entertain such an idea!

Talk to Tiger Airways at Gloucester…they completed an amazing restoration on a Stampe that hadn’t flown for 30 years recently…fairly sure they’ve got a Jungmann in the hangar too…

Whatever you do get an independant engineer etc to oversee it and ensure targets are being met, work out payments by targets etc…….. wing done and inspected, payment etc….. last thing you want is to come home and still find a pile of bits and your budget paid out.
