Hi All
I after measurements from the Frazer-Nash FN25 Ventral turret or photos of it (I’ve Googled and got a few)
I have the AP, but of course there are no measurements
I’ve ordered a Flypast Issue with what I hope will contain pics of the turret.
Apparently there is a restored one in the UK and a partial in Australia.
Can any one assist please?
Cheers

WOW That is very impressive. We were shown around the gunners section at Elvington Museum ,my old Warrant Officer was a gunner– Ron Liversage . You have to take your hats off to those guys ,it’s bad enough just getting in one let alone fighting in one.Brave Brave men.

And from the gunners point of view – sorry about the countryside – another work in progress!

Hi All
Well here is that FN25 dustbin descending from the Stirling as I sort of promised 5 years ago. It hasn’t taken 5 years to do but Iife gets in the way! The guys at Hendon were great and I did get to measure up the Leigh Light.

Oh Wow
Just got October 2007s Flypast Back Issue, lovely three page issue on the FN25 restoration, loads of great photos. It took 20 years apparently!
No dimensions but I am hoping to do the same as they did and take a few major references off of the Leigh Light at Hendon (fingers crossed). From there I can use other drawings to scale the parts.
While only an animation it will be possible to once again to see the dustbin lowered from a Stirling in flight, and from the Gunners viewpoint too.

They seem to be parting with a lot of stuff these days, maybe they will sell it to you!
It’s not a legal issue, just that the owner is elsewhere and its effectively in deep storage with no access.

Hi James
There is one restored example here in the UK which isn’t accessible to view at present, and that could be the case for a couple more years yet.
Might the PRO hold any drawings, possibly Wellington installation drawings?Pete
Hi Pete
Is the restored turret held up in some sort of legal issue then?
It’s a good idea to look for Wellington information – I’m too focussed on the Stirling sometimes I think. Now that you have started me thinking more laterally I think that the Leigh Light that they have at RAFM at Hendon may have enough of the main structure for what I need, now all I need to do is to get the curator to let me get at it with a tape measure!
Cheers
