Hi all,
I’m currently doing some research into my relative Peter, the Wireless Operator/Air Gunner of Halifax DK191 of 427 Squadron RCAF.
He and his crew were shot down, supposedly by a German night fighter pilot, a Hauptmann Günther Friedrich of NJG1. Apparently he was chief technical officer of the unit, before he was himself killed in a collision with Hauptmann Hans Dieter Frank, on 27th September 1943.
I was wondering if anyone could suggest where I could find/help me source any evidence to back up his claim to have shot down my relative, and any other info about this mysterious officer – he barely appears anywhere on an internet search, aside the crash records. I also heard he was known to be a bit inventive with his claims!
I’m also, on a side note, wishing to get in touch with a man named Karl Lusink of the Aircraft Research Group Achterhoek (ARGA).
We emailed a few years ago, but he suddenly stopped answering. He was helping me research the crash of DK191.
Best wishes,
Chris

I did intend to post on the 12 O’ Clock High forum. but it seems they’ve closed registrations, which is a shame!

For Karl Lusink, he is still active with ARGA but they have no website. Perhaps the people of the SGLO might be able to help you to get in touch with him: (2) Facebook
