Dear friends,
This is my first post, so I will present all the reasons of my request.
I am an “amateur” skinner (2D graphism), a member of the IL2 air sim community.
I’ve begun a new decoration serie for one of the planes of that game : the Bristol Blenheim.
My first serie is about french Blenheims, but I am also looking for iformations about one the most famous Blenheims…
It concerns a Blenheim IV of Squadron 60, Far East Forces of the RAF. The plane crew were Warrant Officer Huggards, Sergeant Howitt and Sergeant McLuckie.
They were more than famous, heroes, while they shot down japanese ace Tateo Kato on May 22, 1942.
I know the plane serials (Z9808) and the squadron letters (“MU”), but I’ve found nothing neither about the plane letter nor the colours and markings that were applied.
Here is a picture of what I am doing, and what I miss…
Some of my my friends already searched in the Osprey about Blenheims… 🙁
I would be very happy wether someone here would help me. 🙂
Thank you in advance for your answers,
Sincerly yours,
Macwan.

Thank you very much gents ! 😉
This source is very accurate, Wieesso, thank you !
MU_A was a reserve plane and had been photographed -low quality picture, but really dirty plane also. Apparently, it would be an other plane of that squadron.
Unfortunately, we have nothing more Z9808 plane’s letter…
Well, I will have to solve that mystery… don’t know how but…
Kind regards, 🙂
Macwan.

Beautiful skin!
Had any luck yet with the code letter?

Wow that’s a beautiful model, tempting to buy the game just to fly the Blenheim! Can’t help you really with your project, but wasn’t it more usual for RAF aircraft squadron codes to start with the squadron codes first, and then the identification letter after the roundel, for example RF (roundel) D? Could have been different for the Pacific theatre though
Edit – oops, sorry, just been looking through photos of the Blenheim IV and they all have the squadron codes after the roundel, anyone know why this is? Haven’t seen it on any other aircraft
