Looking for Photo of VVS Spitfire LF.IXE White 78

Hello,

I’m currently working on a Spitfire project and I would like to finish it in the VVS Russian Spitfire White 78 scheme with the Russian Guard Emblem on the turtle deck.

Does anybody have any original Black & White photos of this aircraft they could post?

I’m also looking for a high quality image of the Russian Gvardia badge since I’ll need to generate a decal that is approximately 4″ tall for my project.

Any help would be deeply appreciated.

Thanks, Bob C

Just to the left of the Guards badge in this photo you can see the wingtip light fairing that was only present on full span wings.

Hello,

I was able to locate a copy of the only photo of the White 78 that I can find. At that angle it is hard to verify if the wings are clipped or not? The complete photo is shown the Book Red Stars.

The aircraft is recorded as being a Spitfire LF.IXE, can anybody tell me if all Spitfire LF.IXE models had clipped wings or not?

Does anybody have a copy of the Gvardia Badge in a book that they could post or e-mail to me as a high resolution JPG? I’ve only found it listed on the web as a bright gold pin…urrrr. I need it to make a decal.

Thanks, Bob C
