What happened to AV8Air, have they gone bust or are they still flying?

There 757 was on the ground for weeks i think and i think they have already stopped ops.

They may be beautiful……. But not in that c/s!

They are getting rid of the A300s as their Certificate of Air Worthiness is running out, and they seem to be not to bothered about renewing it.

What are they doing with their A300s? If they are chucking them, I wonder if I might have one! They are so beautiful and take me back to the Orion and DanAir examples flying in the 80s!

The A300-600 doesn’t have A330 style glass cockpit. It’s a semi-EFIS system similar to a 737,757,767. The older A300 (B2 & B4) like the Air Scandic ones weren’t glass cockpit at all. They were more similar to a 707, 727…or in fact a DC10!

Well, when my brother went to apply for bmibaby (big mistake!!) there were loads of ex-AV8AIR crew and they said they lost their jobs when they went bust.

AV8air went bust a while back after only a few weeks flying!! Good news for the DC-10!!!

Thats strange… I have a friend who was with AV8 as a Number 1. Last time I spoke to her she said the UK work had all been pulled yet they had all been sent to Brussels to work on the AV8 767 for some Belgium charter company.

AV8 was the in-house airline of CT2 (Club Travel 2000) was it not? I thought they had purely decided not to operate their own flights and ditched the 757? The 767 was definately still doing something in Brussels after the 757 went.

Anyone know anymore???

Better to see it with another operater than sitting in the Mojave desert, or worse still waiting for the wreckers hammer

At least the A300s had A330-style avionics and glass cockpits.

I’m afraid that old G-BYDA is a museum piece…….. 😮

“Air Scandic operates a modern DC10 aircraft which has been fully refurbished for HowAbout South Africa passengers” 😀

Modern…… LOL.

There will be some horrific delays when that a/c goes tech if its the only one!

Good luck to them though, lets hope they dont bother painting it in the full livery!

I love Air Scandic, they are athird rate charter carrier but proud of it! They have a penchant for operating old bangers and they add some real colour and variety to the charter scene.

All those 320s ans 321s are getting boring. I loved the Scandic A300s but a DC10 would be even better. Whats next for them, a couple of FR 732s or maybe MYT 757s, better still Travel City Directs 742, Nice!

I can’t see a DC-10 doing a weekly Manchester – Durban, but that’s just my opinion. What happened to AV8Air, have they gone bust or are they still flying?

It says “a modern DC-10 aircraft” !!!! It was falling to bits when I flew on it with Taesa to Mexico, that was 1997 !!!!!!
