It does seem a real shame to see this long term tester get cut up rather than saved for preservation, it wouldn’t seem out of place at Duxford even.

Its something else i would like to see go to Bruntingthorpe to remain at least taxiable, but since i cannot offer to help look after her i am not in a position to suggest others do it for me either!

Seems a shame really that no effort is being made to keep it airworthy, but it just doesnt have the public pull of Concorde, Comet or Vulcan.
Reality is that its current operators have probably run the component lives to the end and now it requires a big financial input.

Rumour on PPRuNe is that the aircraft is to be scrapped!

Would be a terrible shame if it is. How about it Twin Otter23 is it worth making a call?

She did several flybys at Hurn today.
Beautiful sight and beautiful sound.
I didn’t realise that it was it’s last flight. It will be missed.

Sad indeed, I must have been the only spotter that welcomed the arrival in the circuit the 115 Sqn Andover E.3 flight checker, their presence usually meant that nothing else could pitch up for an hour or so, but I loved the sight and noise of the old Avro and Darts.
I really do hope this one finds its way into preservation – unlikely I guess.

I did so ‘mostly missed’.
We more or less ‘listened to’ rather than watched the event, hence the displeasure at the lack of notice.

She’s just flown past the office window with photo chase Hawk in tow.
My colleagues are a bit miffed as no announcment was made over the Tannoy (typical ) so the sight was mostly missed.

Yeah, she was out yesturday. She flew Slowley at about 2000 right over Wing Farm airfield heading West. Delightfull sound of the engines at medium power.

Hope she comes over today as will go take a good look and a wave goodbye to her as she passes.

Regards
Mark.
