Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber: Diagnosed with Cancer.

This is such a sad piece of news to me: especially from a man who created one of the musicals (joseph) which gave me the honour of being in the children’s choir 3 times and to appear in another one of his musicals: evita – right now.

Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, 61, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, it has been disclosed.

Mr.Bee tells me he can’t even grow hair on his head any more,so he’s definitely not going in for any more failed attempts.

But has he had a PSA test yet?

What a saucy lot you young lads are on here.
Down here in New Zealand there’s a campaign going to raise awareness of prostate cancer this month,I heard it on the radio in the wee small hours ( curse you,jet-lag ! )
They’re inviting guys to grow a moustache for the month of “” Mo-Vember “” and so remind people of the subject.Oddly enough.they’ve couple it with depression for some reason.

There’s plenty of ladies of commerce who I am sure would oblige, but it might be tricky getting the NHS to pay for the ‘treatment’.

… Testing for it is simple, easy and does not involve fingers and rubber gloves. Moggy

Now you’ve done it.
A good number of guys have just cancelled their appointments upon learning that. :D:D:D

Wise words about regular checks, but just to dispell any illusions that may be around note this

1) Prostate cancer has no symptoms whilst it is developing. All the business about taking ages to pee is to do with other prostate problems. You can pee like a stallion after 20 pints of lager and still have the disease

2) Testing for it is simple, easy and does not involve fingers and rubber gloves. A simple blood test for your PSA level (Prostate Specific Antibodies) is where you start

3) Do it now. If you are 40 or above get down your GP and demand a PSA test. You will be fine, but what it will give you is an initial PSA level. When you go back say five years later you will be able to compare the levels. It’s an increase you are looking out for, not the level itself

4) Caught early enough it is treatable and dare I say curable. When I checked this morning I was still alive. 😀

Auntie BB..
You sound very much like my wife…a RN, ex-Senior Sister in the QARANC*.
Well done on reminding us fellows to take care of the parts down under.:D

*Captain. Served in Germany, Hong Kong, Nepal. Mentioned in dispatches.
Okay, I make up that last part, always wanted to say that.

I get checked every six months…it just so happens it’s prostate cancer awareness week here this week and how ironic that the band going around promoting it is a band called ‘powder finger’ 😀

I see today that the American actor Dennis Hopper has been diagnosed with prostate cancer too.
OK chaps,a little lecture from Auntie BB.
If you’re middle-aged or worse, for goodness’ sake get yourself checked for this regularly.
Yes,I know the actual physical examination isn’t something to look forward to,
but this cancer is so much easier to treat if it’s caught early. My brother-in-law delayed going to his doctor about certain symptoms until it was too late, and sadly he died of the illness.
But before then, the treatment option offered to him was drastic in the extreme.Maybe you can guess what he lost.
So think on,as I believe they say oop north.

Ahem…

This came out on the news the other day, and while it’s a sad thing that he’s got it, more importantly he was diagnosed in the early stages, so it’s entirely possible that he will be treated successfully….
