Lotsa Airshow Photos!!! (Or: I wish it was summer again…)

Hello all!

Just bumped into this forum and then wished it was summer again. Can’t wait for the airshows to start again! 😀

Well, for the time being I have to do with the pictures I made last season. And it was a good one, thanks to my new EOS 300D digital SLR camera (and occasional input from myself, of course :p).

I thought since you folks like aircraft, you might enjoy some of the highlights of the hundreds of airshow photographs I’ve taken during last summer’s warbird’s season, here in the UK.

Hopefully one day one of the owners of these planes will take me up for a ride and let me make some air-to-air photos of his bird. That’d be a dream come true! But for now, I guess I’ll just keep on dreaming and wish for next summer…

I hope you enjoy the photos! 🙂

PS. I apologise in advance for the excessive amount of PT-22 photos! It’s one of my favourites! 😀

Is it May yet? I can’t stand this depressing winter!!!!!!! 😀

Thanks guys and girl! 🙂

Drossel, the Cosina lens isn’t perfect, but it’s very good value for money. I had a look at a new Sigma lens last month (75-400mm with image stabilising) but thought I may have better uses for £900!!! 😮 And I never liked Sigma lenses anyway… the stiff focus rings are very unpleasant to work with and I hate zoom rings too. I don’t think I’ll ever be able/willing to afford the Canon equivalents either… Hurray for Cosina 🙂

Great photos – very much appreciated on this dull day! Broadband has just arrived in the village (about the last place on earth to get it!) so I no longer have to make myself a coffee while the pictures are downloading.

Taken with a Cosina lens too! Mind you I bought one of their 100mm macro lenses and must say I was pleased with the quality – perhaps not the most robust of lenses but with care it should be okay.

Cracking stuff Ronnie, welcome to the forum. As Rob says do pop over and say Hi at Old Warden (or anywhere else for that matter).

And keep posting the pictures. 😀

Thanks again, guys! I nearly forgot about this post!

Aerovet, I absolutely love those little Ryans. And yes, part of that is becayse of the fact that they were used in the Dutch East Indies. Don’t they look gorgeous in silver with orange triangles! But silver with yellow wings is very pretty too! 😀
Great shape, great sound and great to photograph! 🙂

Stieglitz, thanks. The next airshow season I’m intending to make way more photographs than I’ve done this year. Just have to wait half a year for the English monsoon to go away again (if it ever really does)! :p
In the meantime you’ll have to do with my artwork I’m afraid

Great pics. The Ryan is not boring at all (look at my avatar, I am actually in a PT22…)
Must be the historical bond of the Dutchies with Ryan ( the STM-2 to be precise)!

Thanks very much for the kind comments! I’m glad you like them! For those who want more, have a browse here:

At some point I will put more pictures online and add some to my website too. At the moment however I’m much too busy to do this, I’m afraid.

Robbo, will do! 🙂

Martin, you’re present on about every aviation forum I know! Haha! Know any more I can spam my pictures? :p
And thanks for your flattering comments! 🙂

Hee Jelle! What a surprise to find an ex-HTSer here! What are you doing at the moment, then?

Gnome, you serious? It’s the only plane I mentioned by name – twice. Or was it a hint for more? 😀

Dave, I’m using a Cosina 100-400mm F4.5/6.3. A rather inexpensive lens that produces decent results. I’d love to buy a really professional Canon lens though, but in that case I might just prefer a nice sportscar instead! 😉

Strike Eagle, you must’ve been standing close to me then. I noticed some nearly identical photos in FlyPast as well. I believe this was one of them:

great pics. anymore from brieghton. (missing the spit already) is it the brieghton spit . looks like it but its flying with its tail wheel down.

Yes of course it is – when it was at Breighton it flew with the wheel locked down.
