I hadn’t seen a cloud in the sky all day, and so thought I would try and get up the airport this evening to catch some planes in what is most likely going to be some of our last Summer sunlight. Shame it couldn’t get dark a bit later, so I could have got the likes of Malev and Air Berlin, but ah well. I find the evning light is some of the best to take photos in, and gives a lot more interest in the colours. Here’s a selection of what I saw (was very pleased with the CSA!! π )
First up is one of the new FR logojets…

Fandabbydozie photos there Mr. Wannabe – well done. You seem to be enjoying your new camera.
Nice new word to the dictionary there! Thanks π
Great weather today, shame I can’t get up there on my birthday for some more.

I spot whilst at work, although I don’t collect numbers. Photography is my main interest, but that is largely banned airside π , so it’s just the occasional airshow or trip to a more freindly airport now.
I haven’t gone digital yet either. Here is a scan of one of my old STN prints, sorry about the quality, not up to your standard.
Wow I’ve not seen a pic of that CL44 for many years. By the look of that we were working at STN at the same time. I’m sure that at Servisair we handled the crew arrival for that a/c on behalf of ATEL. If you have any more pics from “old” Stansted it would be great to see them.

The Sunday service is now operated by an A330, instead of the normal A320 on weekdays and Saturday. Arrives around 12:20pm, departs again around 2pm. Has been operating the Sunday flight for about 5 months now.
Here’s a shot I got of it about a month ago, with my old camera (excuse quality) Am still waiting to catch it with my new camera! π
Thanks alot for that..again a nice pic

No I didn’t see the Air Pristina unfortunately. I’m using a Minolta Z10.
Do you spot much at STN? Do you do any of your own photography?

CouldnΒ΄t agree more! And you should not move when it gets a bit darker. If you wait for a bit longer the sunset kicks in, and thatΒ΄s when the real stunning shots get made! Last weekend I made my first attempt at a sunset shot, and it immediately ended up as a screeners choice at JP. Got another sunset in the queue lined up to become my 500th photo at JP.
Thanks very much for the comments. The only probelm is Tenthije, is that I wa facing the wrong direction to get the sunset in the picture. And Stansted being limited to where you can stand, I wasn’t able to get round the other side to be able to photo it. It may have been possible had they been on the other runway…but then I doubt we’ll be getting many more evenings like this for a while.

Excellent pictures, my favourite is the Aurigny SD360. Did you see the Air Pristina.Com A320 on Tuesday? Highlight of the week for me.
You’ve probably already mentioned it but, what sort of Camera have you bought?

The EI-DAN shot is a really great photo. Also nice to see the CSA birthday plane. I have still not made a good photo of it. Everytime I see it, it ends up landing on/taking of from another runway. Must have missed it that way at least 4 times now. That plane must be jinxed or something.

Brilliant pics, thanks for sharing. Did you see the Cyprus Airways A330 at the weekend? Do you know if this was the first visit for it at STN?

LBA, I do have more pics. But they’re not very interesting, unless you would like to see the whole fleet of Ryanair and Easyjet!
Unless you can pick IGOJ, IGOH or EZJA out of that lot. π
Excellent pics! π

Stansted surprises me as an airport, because I was one of this ignorant people who believed that the only airlines that operated out of it were short haul charters, easyJet and Ryanair. I found out fairly recently that MalΓ©v Hungarian Airlines also fly from there and have just discovered that CSA Czech Airlines do, too!
Any idea why they do it? Heathrow isn’t that far away and Stansted does techincally qualify as being a London Airport.
Thanks very much for the comments LBA and T5. In answer to your question, CSA have been flying this route for quite a number of years. It seems quite popular, with 3 flights each way daily. Think there are only this number of flights flown from Heathrow! And remember that Luftahnsa had quite a big presence here, until they pulled out after Sept 11th.
Malev have been flying here since early this year, and have already doubled their frequencies. Air Berlin too is our 3rd biggest operator, flying about 30 flights a day to/from quite a number of airports in Germany and Europe.

One word…… Stunning. The best set of pics (Not that any have been any less than superb!), that I have seen with your new camera.
That one of EI-DAN is especially stunning, seems to like you that a/c π (Your name, Great light on photos π ).
Any more :D?
