The lunchtime TV news had a piece on the Taranto anniversary from Yeovilton and some excellent air to air shots of a Swordfish accompanied by a pair of Lynx.
Shame that their choice of rousing music to accompany the images was the Luftwaffe March from the Battle of Britain movie……………..

… there’s one in Canada that has flown (some time ago) but isn’t currently airworthy and I believe there’s another under restoration.
To add a bit of detail to Rob’s comment, C-GEVS is now owned by Vintage Wings of Canada and is under restoration to fly again, after being restored and flown by the Spence family. The Shearwater Aviation Museum restored their Swordfish to ‘airworthy standard’ and chose to prove it by flying it, but without intending to keep it a flyer, the Museum’s mandate and funding not encouraging that option.

It’s not a genuine Luftwaffe march. It was written for the BofB film and was originally titled “Luftwaffe March” The piece of music is now called “Aces High” and was composed by Devonian Ron Goodwin. It is surely one of the most stirring pieces of military aviation music and, as such, appears on most RAF band CDs!
…and someone must have told them as I watched the report on Points West at 1840 and they changed the music! 😉

I saw the same report but on Spot Light for the South West.
They did say that the Swordfish featured was the only air worthy Swordfish in the world. I’m a bit out of touch, however I thought the RNHF had two and there is another in Canada.

I get annoyed with BBC South, everytime they have anything on regarding Spitfires they show a clip of a group of Miles Master 1’s crossing an airfield, it happens without fail. I shoul;d tell them one day I suppose.
