Lovely model.. but what would you pay?

Saw this on Ebay, and although i have to say that as a display model it is a work of art and must have taken an age to complete.. it does seem a tad expensive to me… even though it is a Wyvern ;). And its been reduced!

Thoughts anyone?

you didn’t give an open cheque did you ???

No, He’s a friend from the marque club and has experience with that sort of car…he knows what he’s doing.
I’m getting a comparitve deal but doing so has its disadvantages. He takes time away from it to do the occasional better paying jobs.
The car is now 14 months late!

I keep coming back to this thread thinking that it’s about something else…

…I’m still not convinced you’re all talking about plastic kits! 😀

:D:eek:
Well done!
Trouble is I’m far too cheap to spend that kind of money on the “something else” professionals.
I save my money for cars, airplanes, etc.

I agree, if you want it done right, hire a pro.

That’s why one of my old cars is in a restoration shop right now and not my garage.

exactly they do what others can’t i’m gradualy getting used to an airbrush ( using and using well is a vastly huge difrence ) wich only comes from many years practice .

you can spend more money buying it all yourself making a piece of c***p you wouldn’t display in your toilet

Appearently professional model builders get good money.

I asked a friend who runs a modeler’s website for some information about an old, rare kit I wanted built. Rather, I’d like to have painted, the building is very elemental…but the painting is the key.

He said it would be about $1000. Wow.

then have to pay for the proper item on top !!

most who see do not apreciate the hours and skill in model building to that standard

if you think that is dear keep an eye on good quality ww2 german armour dioramas

i have seen some sell on fleabay for upwards of £1000,00

I consider myself as a modeller of average ability, and it still isn’t worth it! :diablo:

Very impressive model though…

considder it this way then !1 a non modeller , but with good diy abilitys wants to buy and make to that level of finnish

kit £60.00

airbrush and compressor £200.00

paints £30.00

sundries ,tools etc
from scratch £70.00

time and electricity
if costed to customer £100.00

be honnest , do you go to work for free ??? no !! well why should others !!

i’m unsure if it is available commercialy in that scale apart from a kit

if not it is a one off custom built item being offered

you do not pay the same price for a mini as a bespoke carriage built vehicle

to be honest – ive seen other 1/48 scale professionally finished model kits go on ebay uk for ~£250

I dont think its unreasonable to be honest – ive got a hasegawa 1/48 phantom FGR.1 in my wardrobe, i paid £57 just for the kit…

it realy is one of those depending on ability things !!

if you are a modeller of good ability it probably won’t be worth it !!

however combine 2 huge wyvern fans with money burning a hole in thier pockets , and an ability to screw up even skirting board painting

then watch the bidding war proceede:diablo:

same as paintings or anything if you can’t yourself , pay someone else !!

trumpeter are not a cheap manufacturer and there are a lot of skilled hours in the build

why shouldn’t he make something on it ???

it is more original than a corgi one and look at the price of corgis !!

Presumably the Trumpeter kit? If you’ve got 665 dollars to spare you could buy and build yourself a Squadron of them.
