This warning, from Wiltshire police….
Caution should be exercised on Saturday 29th September 2007, when driving in the vicinity of the M4 motorway. An abnormal load will be leaving R.A.F. Kemble at 0630 hours, with its final destination being Alton in Hampshire, and the route will be the A419 southbound, until it meets the M4 at junction 15. It will travel eastbound along the M4, until it reaches junction 13, and then leave via the A34 southbound.
The load is the rear section of a 747 aircraft fuselage, weighing 40 tonnes, and measuring 5.34 metres wide, 4.93 metres high, and 19 metres long, and will be escorted throughout its journey by marked police cars. It is not exactly known how long the journey will take, but motorists are advised to take great care, when travelling on the A419 and M4, throughout the whole of Saturday morning.
Take care out there!

It will be heading toward’s Air Salvage International’s yeard at Beech on the A339 between Lasham and Alton. They are (or will be) scrapping another ex-BA A320 at Lasham.
From their website

The police will be closing the road for approx 1 hour (ETA Alton 12 noon).
The section will be off loaded at our facilities (Unit 2 Valley Court Basingstoke Road Alton) for a refit it will then be transported late October to South Downs College Portsmouth where it will be used by the college as a training simulator.
