Low Cost airlines to ATH?

I’m looking for a decent priced airfare from a major European gateway to ATH. Roundabout dates are July 23rd to August 23rd, give or take a couple days before and after on the outbound and inbound. I already checked Easyjet from LGW and it’s 314GBP round trip on those dates. At this stage, I’ll even fly BA. I wanted to use award travel but Star has no seats available to ATH with award travel on the dates I’m looking for. Therefore, I’m going to fly roundtrip to one of the gateways in Europe from LAX and then I need a decent priced roundtrip airfare to ATH from the city I fly in. Since I’m not familiar with the low-cost airlines in Europe, can one of you kind gentlemen please help me out, or give me some ideas? I’m not going to book my initial round-trip airfare until I know what Euro city I need to fly to initially. I appreciate all the help.

First of all i would like to wish you all the best with your “odyssey” to Greece. As many said due to olympics, the fare prices will be sky high, even for easyjet and virgin.

If this helps, i tried to get access to fares with hellasjet! they fly from london heathrow to athens. The website you can look for your self is www.cyprusairways.com as hellas jet is a subsidiary of cyprus airways.

Unfortunately i couldnt get prices due to technical reasons or no availability. If you wish you can try your self. Also, have a look at www.expedia.co.uk there is a possibility to get some low fares, even with full-frill carriers! if you are lucky! Also consider flying with CSA (Checz Republic Airways), maybe they have a flight from prague to athens that is cheap! website www.csa.cz

All the best

Elias

Dude, if you don’t want to help out, then don’t. Respond on other threads and not this one. I’m just trying to get some ideas here.

yes, sorry! The inbound leg is expensive but bareable at around 200 euros (23th of July as requested). The outbound leg for anything between the 18th and 26th of august (or thereabouts) goes over the 1000 euros.

Yes they are because of the very high fares during the olympic games.

Only KLM and Olympic.

OA uses the 734 and KLM uses the 738 but will use the 744 during the olympics!

OA 419.60 euro
KL 1,288.62 euro

seems a bit excessive to me!

You can fly into brussels with UA via Washington, but I don’t think you can make your connection in that case. Only daily flights to/from the US, you see.
Sorry for all my questions! I’m sorry, but i’m a bit tired:).

Easyjet from Berlin Schöneveld (SXF) to Athens (ATH) still has low priced flights. 60 euros one-way. With the olympics in mind I would not expect flights to get much cheaper than that!

Depart with SN Brussels Airlines from Gatwick at 7.40 and arrive in Brussels at 9.45. Then you will have plenty of time to visit bars and see the breathtaking A-pier. Your connecting flight is a Virgin Express flight that departs at Brussels at 15.30. It’ll arive in Athens at 19.45.

VACATION!

Depart with Virgin Express in Athens at 11.35 on 23th of August. You will arive at Brussels at 14.05, before you take your flight back to London Gatwick at 16.45. You will arrive at LGW at 16.50.

SN Brussels airlines fare (taxes included): 60.90 EUR (if that ain’t cheap!:))
Virgin Express fare: 286.64 EUR (expensive [but cheapest] because there are a lot of people coming back from Athens at the return flight)
Total fare: 347.54 EUR = 233.60 GBP

Ok, this all sounds good as well. I’m going to look into it. I don’t necessarily need to leave from LGW. I can probably fly UA into BRU.

I’m going to attempt to answer all your questions Jeanske

I hate answering a question with a question but, what’s not to get? I don’t live in Greece. If I did, I wouldn’t be requiring info on airfare in order to get there.

Yes, I do.

I thought I indicated that as well, I want to go to Athens.

Is there a pattern here? August 23-July 23 sounds around a month to me, so yes.

Thanks you, this is what I was looking for. I appreciate your efforts. Does Virgin Express have a website?

You can fly Olympic Airways, HellasJet (book with SNBA, they don’t have a website), or Virgin Express from Brussels.
There is a problem, In that period people start moving to Athens for the Olympic Games so fares will be astronomically high in August! Do you live in greece or what… don’t get it. Do you want to go to the olympic games? How long do you want to stay? So where do you live? don’t really understand where you want to go:s. Do you want to stay for a month?

Look, airlines aply the law of demand and supply here. The demand is skyhigh, so the prices are skyhigh as well!
Because I don’t really understand what you want to do, I searched from 23th of july untill the 23th of august. since I don’t know where you live, I can’t include a connecting flight, but you can go return from london gatwick to brussels for 82 euros.

Virgin Express
23th july depart 15.30 arrive 19.45 Bru-Ath
23th august depart 20.30 arrive 23.00 Ath-Bru
Total fare including taxes: 286.64 EUR

Greek those are the time tables for the flights
From Paris to ATH on 7/23 and
ATH to PAris on August 23

You have Departure time Arrival time Airline Flight number etc

I know that Apris might not be the most convenient time but you have here ALL the flights already scheduled from and to CDG.

I suspect that you might have a much better selection from London anyway.
Anyway if I can help , feel free to let me know.

Hand, I appreciate the effort, my man. However, I don’t speak French! Also, I wanted prices on particular itineraries, not necessarily timetables.

Shamrock, I appreciate your help as well. However, as I told hand, I need prices for particular itineraries. I’m well aware that I can fly from various gateways on various lo-cos, BRU being one of them.
