I may have mentioned before that I will be in Paris the first two weeks of November, and may go to see a buddy in Frankfurt for two nights during this time period. However, the only low cost airline that seems to fly this route is Ryanair via Prestwick (a bit too involved for a two night stay).
As many of you seem to live in Europe perhaps you could let me know if there is an alterantive (AF and LH are too expensive for two nights), perhaps I have missed something? Is there some sort of agreement in place that makes it impossible for low cost carriers to operate between France and Germany? Perhaps Hand87_5 can shed some light (living in France)?
OR, is there a way to access low sched carrier rates on this route?
Thanks for any information you can provide.
Regards

RE: Low Cost from Paris to Frankfurt
Thanks everyone.
I had completely forgotten about Buzz. I will also investigate the German rail service (now that I know which station in Frankfurt to use).

RE: Low Cost from Paris to Frankfurt
take the train,it’s much more fun and will take you straight to Frankfurt hauptbahnhof in the city.Hahn airport is more like an hour and a half from FFM depending on traffic. The cost from Hahn to the city is about 20euro.
There are no UA flights from cdg-fra only codeshared with LH as UA don’t have rights to carry ppl internally in europe.
coming back try
www.bahn.de the german rail website,i use it often when i go to Germany and it is fantastic and very simple to use.

RE: Low Cost from Paris to Frankfurt
How about buzz from Paris CDG to Frankfurt via London Stansted? I have flown buzz 4 times and there flights are very cheap and their service is excellent and good value for money. The best low cost airline in my book.
Give them a try!

RE: Low Cost from Paris to Frankfurt
I didn’t find any better deal.
Just remember one thing . Trains eastbound are NOT high speed. Therefore Paris ->Frankfurt might take a while…..
By the way , I guess that UA operates Frankfurt under LH codeshare.
Have fun

RE: Low Cost from Paris to Frankfurt
Thank you for the replies. I will look into SNCF.com and I was surprised to hear that UA flies this route also. Will let you know what I find out for the record. Seems to be a very popular route though, maybe a bit of a LH/AF monolpoly???
Thanks again, regards,

RE: Low Cost from Paris to Frankfurt
there’s no flights from Paris to Frankfurt, and I wouldn’t touch Ryanair’s flights with a bargepole… they operate from Paris Beauvais (NO idea where it is) to Frankfurt Hahn (about an hour east of Frankfurt). You’ll probably end up longer on a bus from airport to town than on the flights…
French Railways are generally quite cheap and fast, maybe have a look there, at www.sncf.com if you go at the weekend, it’s about 150 Euros return for the 6 1/2 hour trip.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 23-09-02 AT 01:35 PM (GMT)]As far as I know only LH ,AF and UA operate non-stop flights from Paris to Frankfurt.
I will dig a bit more.
