Low cost moves in Spain

Lately airlines, have turned to be low cost at least as far as service is concerned. No fare reductions, no cabin service….no flexibility in fares. So Vueling is starting to change things. http://www.vueling.com offers real low cost from BCN. They are owned by a big Spanish holding and JetBlue support. Iberia is getting concerned, and will launch something called Iberia Express. No train services, but a low cost using its A319 (formally in Miami) to compete Vueling which promises to offer 10 euros fares in Iberia crown jewel, Madrid-Barcelona shuttle. If Iberia already is a low cost…what will Iberia Express be offering….wooden chair in the cargo hold?. Futura Airlines plans to get into the low cost market too.

I flew Iberia earlier this month and let me tell you that what they lose in in-flight service they make up in customer service and freindly staff. The last thing I would call Iberia is expensive.i got my ticket for 188 euro DUB-BCN-ALC-BCN-DUB.They are a great airline and I would recommend them to anyone.

Good question and good topic. IB service levels have diminished in recent years and like you point out, their service is already no-frills. Good luck to Vueling, as IB have had it their way for too long.

A scheduled carrier like IB used to stand for a certain quality, nowadays they are just like EasyJet and the like, except for the fares!.
