Ryanair
————
Ryanair is to start a new route between London Stansted and Tampere, Finland. The daily service will commence on October 30th and will be Ryanair’s first UK-Finland route (Ryanairs 133rd route!). Fares will start from £29.99 one way.
Also from October 30th will be a new route from Frankfurt Hahn to Alghero, Sardinia.
Air Berlin
————–
Air Berlin is to discontinue all services from Dusseldorf Monchengladbach. Therefore all city shuttle services will be transferred to Dusseldorf International. The reason for Air Berlin leaving Monchengladbach is due to the low capacity yet high maintenance costs of running the Bae 146’s on low cost services. Barcelona is already served from Dusseldorf International with Air Berlin and the following new routes will start on November 1st 2003 :
London Stansted (3 times daily)
Zurich (twice daily)
Vienna (twice daily)
Milan – Bergamo (daily)
Virgin Blue
—————
Virgin Blue is to start a new route between Melbourne and Newcastle. The daily service will commence on November 1st 2003. Boeing 737-700’s will be used on this service.

P.S: First buzz, now Air Berlin, I take it the Bae146 isn’t very good for low cost airlines. I wonder how flybe are getting on with their “whisper jets”?
