The BBC has an piece on a DC10 restaurant in Ghana. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-25734337 Having seen Ghana Airways DC-10s at Heathrow on many many occasions I suspect I’ve seen this one before.
I suspect the restaurant (airframe) will last many more years in Ghana than any airliner airframes parked outside in the UK. I guess that why we don’t have anything like it here. 🙂

Mexico City Airport – 1987
Here are two pics that I took of Canadair North Star CF-TGF (DC-4M2 – ex-Trans Canada Airlines) at Mexico City Airport back in 1987. It operated as ‘Wings’ cafe since 1965. I have heard that it is no longer there.

Ex-Interflug Tupolev TU-134A DDR-SCB used to be used as a cafe in a park in the small town of Oschersleben near Magdeburg in the old East Germany. When I was there in the late 90s, it was closed up and looking very sad but I think it’s been removed and preserved elsewhere since.

Long gone now (but it survives–at the Seattle Museum of Flight), here’s the ex-TCA Lockheed 1049 that was a sandwich shop/bar for a few years at Toronto’s Pearson airport.
At one point it was parked across the street from the airport, outside the Regal Constellation Hotel, where it was in use as a bar. I remember having a few beers in it in 1996 when I spent a couple of months in the Toronto area on business.

Is the Andover the same one that was offered for sale by Hanningfield Metals at the same time that Viscount cockpit of G-AOHL was for sale I wonder? The andover was listed as being ex queens flight?

The Concorde is a full scale replica and was no part of the project…i.e. it was not a mock up.
By: Fouga23 - 20th January 2014 at 16:57
The Concorde isn’t real. It’s a restaurant build to look like a Concorde AFAIK.
By: merlin70 - 20th January 2014 at 14:19
WOW. What’s the story with the Concorde replica? Is it a pre-production mock-up?
The museum looks very good. It’s only 90 minutes away from where I visit each summer so I will be giving this museum some attention in future. 🙂

The Waitomo motel Bristol Freighter (ex G-18-113, NZ5906, ZK-EPC) used to be a cafe at Waihi Beach. I had lunch there once, as it was part of the airfield facilities.
There is also another DC-3, ZK-BKD, at a Gisborne wine bar. You used to be able to eat/drink up there in it, but it is just a ‘feature’ there now.

McDonalds at Taupo, NZ (although I think that it is planned to be removed). Another DC-3 cafe is at Mangaweka. There is also a Bristol Freighter converted to a motel at Waitomo, and a few places with aircraft available for viewing on-site.

Which are still there I don’t know but I recall an IL62 at Havana as a bar/cafe, a Constellation at Faro which looked closed in 1984, and a DC3 forming part of a McDonalds in South Island New Zealand (can’t remember the town, it’s by a big fishing lake). The last was in a town, not at an airport.

There’s a Breguet Deux Ponts restaurant at Fontenay-Tresigny airfield, east of Paris.

Is this not the former government aircraft from the DDR that was used by Honnecker
The same one.

ISTR that the reason several UK aeroplane diners/bars/restaurants never got much past the planning stage was the fire regs in force at the time, the projects failing inspections by the local fire brigade due to insufficient means of escape in the event of fire.
Anon.

Then there is THIS at the Colorado Springs Airport in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA (note that the port wing and both engines are inside the building. See the link for photos of tables inside under the wing!). T took the first 2 photographs on 18 June 2013:

Andover as night club at Glastonbury 2008. A bit of it fell off into my hand:rolleyes: Over the years it was further stripped and repainted. There was dancing inside.
