Lower Than A Snake's Belly In A Wagon Rut

A truly amazing website devoted to photos of low flying aircraft.
Some of these shots are VERY LOW, some through necessity and some just for fun… but not all apparently ending successfully.
The captions tell the story behind each shot.

Very good, I remember seeing the Su-27 and Tu something arrival at Boscombe, should have pics somewhere.

Anatoly Kvotchur flying alongside his support aircraft – a Tu-134….

IIRC, he had just flown the Flanker non-stop from Moscow – and apparently got a reprimand for the safety committee.

Later that same day he autographed my ‘Soviet X-Planes’ book.

Back in the day, lots of aircraft were flown that low. I thought I was going to lose my head once at Biggin when Ormond Hayden-Bailey took off in his T-33 towards the road and was lower than head height, pulling up only at the last minute. I can stiff feel the heat of its exhaust!
Don Bullock was probably the worst offender with many literally frightening displays. On one occasion I recall him, in Sally B, heading direct for the crowd at Duxford, only feet above the ground, pulling up at the last minute. For him it was the norm and that cost him his, and others lives.

I nealy saw sally B go in at Duxford. Don Bullock was doing a very low turn. When it started to slide slip. He only just got away with it. All the commonators said what a good pilot he was and how he had crashed on a Iceberg. That was untill he crashed the B-26 Invader.

Is the pic of Sally B with wheels down pulling out of the valley at Biggin Hill real?
Glad they don’t fly her like that any more!

Funny, but the Phantom between the hangars at Saints will be one of my airfield before and after shots!
I can never tire of that last low-level Spitfire clip!

Excellent job. Thanks for sharing.
Love the Vulcan at Swinderby.I was there around that time.

And the RAF Valley hawk. Open day 1969. I was driving a mini van along the perry track on crowd control that’s making sure no one wonders onto the airfield. I looked in my rear view mirror and a red arrow was coming up behind me, I waved him past he was at the same height. WOW! If only I had a camera.
