Not sure about Friday mate. Depends on the weather and if it actually gets airborne for LTN. A certain 321 is out on Saturday btw 😉

Alex, we need to go along and rebuild that mound sometime, the fence creeping into my photos from it is starting to ruin them!
Alex doesn’t need a mound! He was born with stilts on:p
Although I think spades near an airport fence might attract some unwanted attention, so have to think up some way of doing it more inconspicuosly. :diablo:
I’ve got it! Great Escape style through a hole in the pocket and down the trouser leg:D
Alex, are you going to LTN on friday for a certain movement?;)
Cheers, Huw:)

Yeah, the spot there is really good in summer evenings. I’ve never been moved on from there, and the staff and airport security all just give friendly smiles as they drive past, so they clearly don’t mind.

Thanks Adam. That’s correct. All the shots were taken from the top of the mid-stay car park. They don’t really like photographers up there, but they’re getting used to it. First time I went up there was 2006. Had no problems at all until the owners of the car park changed and APCOA took over in 2008. Photographers and spotters were moved on for a while which led to a few confrontations, but haven’t had any problems for months now. The police and airport security are always very friendly.

Lovely shots Alex, as usual.
Are these from the car park (mid-stay?) close to the 08 end?
I remember taking some photos from there a fair while ago, almost 10 years in fact! G-EZYH, 31st July 1999
Are you still OK taking photos from there?
Adam

Not bad for flying cigar tubes. Like the shot of N410M at the moment of rotation.
It’s touching down, actually! :diablo:

Hey Alex, I might be heading up to LTN tomorrow evening after my exam. Give me a shout if you’re heading up or if you hear of anything coming in. 😉
Yeah sure. Fingers crossed. Not sure what happened to the Arik Air last week. 🙁

Yeah, photographers out there have it way too easy. The English countryside doesn’t really compare to the Swiss Alps. 😛

For sure! Definitely not a linear one.
A mate from Austria uses them for shoots. Awesome results IMO:

Ah, fair enough. I was going to say you lose between 1 and 2 stops of light with polarisers so they’re not really suitable for shooting with all the time. Not in this country anyway!

You want a CP for shooting aviation?
Paul
CP?
Hey I’m not that bothered, I caught the last one;):D
Cheers, Huw:)
LOL! Head-on shots were ok but the light was real bad for 3/4s or side-ons. Still… at least it was in daylight. 🙂
By: HuwJHopkins - 2nd June 2009 at 18:35
Yeah, it has. If only there were more IL-76 movements into LTN!
