Luftwaffe F-86Ks

F-86K Folks:

Looking for pictures, while in operational status, NATO meetings, of F-86K 55-4866. It arrived at Oberpfaffenhofen, W. Germany c. July 1957 along with F-86K 55-4878. According to Duncan Curtis F-86D/K/L book these were the first two F-86Ks to arrive from Italy.

The picture below shows the aft section & final days of FU 866 at Curacao island W. Antilles c. 1981-82 while being used for fire practice for the local brigade. Photo via G. Hilltermann.

Tks for posting our request in your forum.The FAV forum folks found this interesting picture of FAV F-86K 9413. NA 56-4160. Possible place Dornier factory or Oberpflaffenhofen area.c. 1966.

We hope to find similar pictures of that time frame fm Dornier technicians or logistics personnel at the base.

Also, If you happen to have a NA F-86K id plate picture plz let us know.

A German forumite just posts this:
“An indication speaks for it: The G91 (see the two airplanes in the background) was manufactured and/or overhauled in Oby!”
(Oby – ‘Oberbayern’ – Bavaria (County) where Oberpfaffenhofen is located)

Good day!

Does anyone has pictures of the Neuberg F-86K restoration projects c. 2007? North American 55-4928. A pic of the N.A id plate or any F-86K id plate will be a plus.

p.s Do Flypast, Aircraft or Warbirds magazines covered this interesting project? Plz indicate the apprx date to obtain the respective back issues.

Do you mean Neuburg (an der Donau; JG74’s home base, in Bavaria)? And projects? Something like this would normally surface in flugzeugforum.de, but it hasn’t :confused:

They do have at least one gate guardian F-86K there though..

Tks for the reply. The restoration of this aircraft was done at a place named Erding c. 2007 and then it was transfered to Neuburg c.2009. I believe there was an article in c. Aug-2007/Sept 2007 in a UK aircraft magazine describing full details of this airframe restoration with only 3.20 Hrs of flying time! 🙂
