Luftwaffe losses for 14th February 1943

Hi, further to my quest to fill in the blanks, write an article, and raise a memorial to Sergeant ‘Johnny’ Wiseman of 609 (WR) Squadron, I was wondering if any of you have details of Luftwaffe losses for 14th February 1943. I followed the directions from somebody’s post last night and was able to identify who shot Johnny and ‘Babe’ Haddon down: Luftwaffe records show three claims from that day made by III./JG2’s Squadron Commander Oberleutnant Egon Mayer and one by Leutnant Fritz Rösle. Mayer was officially credited with shooting down 102 enemy aircraft in 353 combat missions, and developed the head on attack against the American daylight bombers in conjunction with Major Georg-Peter Eder. He was killed in action just over a year later on 2nd March 1944 by an American pilot flying a P47 Thunderbolt fighter near Montmédy, France. Regarding the aircraft shot down by 609 that day, ‘Under the White Rose records that Stab III. /JG2 lost hree Focke-Wulf FW190 A-4 aircraft and pilots in this combat, Werknummer 0733 flown by Unteroffizier Armbruster, Werknummer 2421 flown by Leutnant Deuerling, and Werknummer 7177 flown by Unteroffizier Bischoff.

Basically, I have found no information about Leutnant Fritz Rösle, nor Armbruster, Deuerling or Bischoff. If anyone has any information about them (first names, personal details / career histories, claims etc, or especially pictures) or about all Luftwaffe losses for that day I would be most grateful – when I put an article together I like to fill it with as much detail as possible. If you want to email me direct, my address is snapper35 ‘AT’ hotmail.com, or post on here. Who knows, you may see the finished article in print on a coffee table near you…..

Thanks,

Mark.

Mark,
I would seriously consider placing a request on

www.luftarchiv.de/forum/list.php?f=1

They don’t mind you posting in English and they came up with good personal information for me. They may also be able to help you with pictures etc.

Got to be worth a try.

Good luck.
