Can anyone point me in the direction of a website that includes an explanation of the system used by the luftwaffe in numbering the components used in WW2 German aircraft?
I’m particularly interested in finding out how to ID which WW2 German aircraft a propellor came from using its part number.
I’ve Googled like mad, but have come up with nothing.
Cheers
Geoff.

Vdm manuals
Have you tried Duxford’s archive library they used to charge about £30 per manual they have a lot of German A/C manuals I think the one you are after is VDM L.dv514 it gives details of various props and spinners if you have no luck Iwill speak to Russ Snadden as I believe we had a copy when we were operating Black 6

Fluffy,
I’ve tried various search engines as you suggested re VDM, but the results weren’t too good. I’ve now got a few propeller part numbers for the Me109F, G & K, and the Fw190A. I could still do with part numbers for the propellers used by the Me109E, Me110, He111, Do17, Ju88 & other German aircraft operating over the Channel, as I expect could a few other forum members.
Perhaps we could start to build up a database here?
Can any other museum based forum members help out?
Geoff.

Have you tried VDM propellers on google they made most of the prop/hubs Part nos usually begin 9- followed by 5 numbers then a letter hope this helps.

I have the same problem. We received a German prop last weekin our museum, most probably an Arado or HE115, but can’t check the numbers on it so far. BW Roger
