Spent a few hours in the northside car park yesterday afternoon. I was expecting the sun to swing round and make runway shots possible. But it didn’t move half as fast as I expected and was still completely backlit when I left at 6. Still, I was able to take shots of the aircraft taxing out through Bravo One. Enjoy!

“Hold Bravo One Whisky”, possibly the best words you could possibly hear from ATC. Only the second time It’s ever happened to me. The aircraft taxi by so close you can nearly touch the wing tips. I tried experimenting with some different angles. Please tell me what you think.

Thanks for looking. As always, your comments and critcism are welcome! I’ve got a back log to work through, so please tell me if there are any quality issues I should look at before editing hundereds of shots.
Cheers,
Dan.

Sound advice there (as always) from Paul.
Personally I enjoyed the tight crop of the EZY the most but even that may be a little tight. Also I’ve learnt to never cut off any part of the horizontal stabiliser on direct ‘side-on’ shots. When I started out I did this very regularly and hence the photos were rejected from photo sites like Jetphotos.net. That said I don’t think they look bad, cropped as they are.
Anyway, enjoyed looking at them and keep up the good work!

Nice work, Dan! There are only two things I’d really say. Firstly, beware of oversharpening. The first two appear to be slightly oversharpened. Not by much, but it’s enough to introduce a few jaggies.
Secondly, this is a personal preference of course, but maybe try leaving a little more space between the points you’re cropping to and the edge of the frame to give the image a little more space to ‘breathe’. Old Shape is, of course, correct on the overhead A340 (although it isn’t out of focus as such, more overcropped and shooting through so much of the atmosphere can give a similar effect), but I know you knew that already when you posted it. It still made an interesting addition to the thread. 🙂
All in all, a fine set!

The A340 is a scrapper, it’s out of focus and the sunlit side is over exposed. IMO of course.
Oh yeah of course. It was outbound of LHR, I wasn’t expecting to upload it anywhere.
Cheers for the comments guys!

Love the close up Squeasy jet nose!
In this day and age I’m surprised you can still get so close.
