Luton May 22nd 2009

I think I need to calibrate my screen on the camera as the photos looked slightly different on the PC. Anyway, I got a text from a friend asking if I wanted to go to Luton with him so I went along. Heres some of the aircraft we saw that maybe of interest..

Steve – it was a one-off charter flight.

Scrap that, it’s just called 132.550 and landed again!

Camera screens can’t be calibrated and should never be trusted to judge anything other than composition. You can get a vague idea of sharpness, but it will only ever be vague. The histogram (especially the RGB histogram) gives you a far better idea of colour and exposure than the screen once you get used to reading them.

Nice shots! Sharp and well composed, although the odd one could do with a touch of rotating to level (keep an eye on things like lamp posts, control towers and other buildings to judge this) and again, all have the slightly blue tinge indicating too cool a colour temperature. What white balance mode are you using? Are you using Auto or do you adjust for the conditions you’re shooting in?
