I know that this is a real ‘saddo’ thing to ask, but after years on t’other side of the fence at OW, I fulfilled a personal ambition last weekend by flying the Luton Minor in there for the very first time.
If anyone did get a pic of the aeroplane either on the ground, on departure, or even on my none to brilliant ‘arrival’ – I’d be dead chuffed to see it.
The only one posted so far(bizarrely under ‘faces’) has my backside sticking out of the aeroplane!
Yours in (nervous) anticipation…….

A very interesting little aircraft you have!
I may have some more, but here’s one already.
If you PM me your e-mail address I’ll send you the full-resolution images (3072×2048 pixel JPG) 🙂

Many, many thanks everyone. Really appreciate seeing these!
I’m going to pass on your message to Barbara too Hashdef. I knw she’ll really enjoy that. Keep an eye open for her ‘new’ Luton, G-AXGR, complete with thundering 36-bhp, two cylinder, JAP power. (The last word is used advisedly)
Thanks again!!

G-ASML used to be a regular at the Granite City Air Rally in Aberdeen. Sadly this event was killed off by the BAA and hasn’t happened since 1997.
Barbara Schlussler used to fly it up from Fenland, non-radio, stopping off somewhere short of EGPD’s Class D to phone ahead and get her zone clearance.
On one occasion, she was departing home in fairly windy conditions. I was one of the wing-walkers that helped her out to the holding point, ready for departure. To save the hastle of light-signals from the tower, I used a hand-held radio as we walked her out.
Tower controller was having a busy day, and without thinking said “Can you tell G-ASML to squawk 1234”
Doh …

How about these…
These two O.K?
This is all I took unfortunatley, but it was nice to see this rather interesting machine so thanks for bringing it along. 🙂
And nice to have met you too, shame we couldn’t have chatted for longer but you only get a certain amount of time on the flightline walk!
Cheers
Paul
