Lyle Shelton.

Passed yesterday, thread over at Wix:

http://warbirdinformationexchange.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=35571

This guy said it well:

Lyle Shelton made his final landing around 4:00 Thursday afternoon. His family was there to see it, so he was not alone.

There is a line in the movie City Slickers where Jack Palance’s character dies. They bury him out in the desert, and the cook gives a simple eulogy….”Lord, we give you Curly. Try not to **** him off.” In so many ways I laugh to think about that quote when dealing with Lyle.

A legend has passed.

Going to dig out my RareBear crew jacket & wear it today.

Lyle was a true aviation character.

Had beers with him at Van Nuys a year ago.

RIP.

At the 94th? 😉

One day at the airport he said “I’ve got so much deadstick time in that Bearcat I probably qualify for a glider rating” 🙂
