Lynx pod query?

This Lynx from HMS Endurance is at the Weston-super-Mare Helidays this weekend, but what is the strange red ‘pod’ attached to its port fuselage, which I haven’t seen before. At first, I thought it was a spare nosecone!

Probably contains a radar scanner and swings down 180 degrees once airborne for surface vessel search: ASV radar, in other words.

yup looks like a surface search radar, probably for locating ice floeas/ice bergs things like that, considering where this aircraft deploys to.

Looks like radar to me…. similar shape to that thimble type on the tail boom of SAR Sea Kings. Probably wrong though… not sure!
