Can anyone give me a few recommendations of books concerning the operation of Lysanders and perhaps other aircraft behind enemy lines, picking up spies, delivering supplies etc. SOE jobs and the like.
I suddenyl felt the urge to read a book on the subject.
Thanks, Steve
ps- non fiction please.

She strained mine too when she flew over :p I really don’t want to become the infamous forum member whose avatar resulted in numerous falling backwards off chair injuries 🙂

Hi Albert,
Yes,
We’ll be in direct competition. But I’m happy to say:
Ours cost less (all 9.99 at the moment)
They are books, not expanded magazines
Our plans are accurate as possible, not rehashes of existing artwork
We have fewer (some!) typos
More colour profiles
More colour pictures
More text, pages etc etc
Did I mention we cost less?
We arent bringing one out every 6 weeks, but when the book is ready and right
Don’t take my word for it, have a look at reviews at modellingmadness, intternet modeller, www.amazon.com, www.hyperscale.com, and quoted on www.mmpbooks.biz, etc
You may gather I don’t like Warpaints! It’s a pity, but they have a lot of good info let down by being overpriced and riddled with rushed mistakes and basic or major errors. Their excellent authors are not best served by the publisher.
Apologies for the rant, but I’d rather people spent their money on products that are worthwhile!
Cheers

Wait a little longer and WARPAINT books will be bringing out a book on the history of the Lysander with colour profile drawings and lots of photos soon.

Does anyone else keep falling over backwards thanks to Steve Hatton’s avatar? 😀Yes, Mike, there will be another great book on the Lysander soon, as soon as I’ve written it. Heh.
But it won’t be an operational history. Verity’s book is great, highly recommended. The 161 Sqn ORB also makes amazing reading if you have access to the National Archives at Kew (Formerly the PRO)
Cheers
James,
Did I ever send you the high-res shots I took of the NASM’s Lizzie out at the Garber facility ?

Black Lysander
Black Lysander is a good read as recommended by my late grandfather who featured in it-although we have since lost his copy.
