Hi all, Been on my travels to Madrid and Vasco de Gama (India), here are a few..well lots from Madrid and an odd ball that I quite like. Weather in Madrid was pants, with very hazy sunshine one day with the following morning thick fog. Of course as the fog began to lift it was replaced by beautiful clear blue skies…..and I was on the plane departing to Bristol! Highlight for me was the IL96, Argentinian 742 and the Cygnus Cargo DC8 and 757’s. Hope you like them.
All the best
Si

Seats are terribly unconfortably. Tryp Diana Hotel (opposit T1) is generally inexpesive and has free shuttle.

sounds like a good idea, just found out one can avail a locker for about 6 euros for a day.

Kabir
I’m sure there must be paid lounges as it is in the top ten airports worldwide but I’ve never availed myself.
Of course, you could leave your luggage at a paid facility and walk to the good location fairly light.

Thanks for the information Barry. Since I will be carrying my new DSLR with me the spotting tip seems like a good way to pass an hour or two. Since i will be carrying a bag-pack with me (no check in luggage) i wouldn’t want to do a lot of walking carrying it around. What about the eminities within the terminal? Are there any paid-lounges etc. that can be used?

Hi Kabir
Good views from a window upstairs in T1/T2 including photographically if you’re happy thro’ glass
Alternatively, take metro one stop (away from city) to Barajas station……turn left outside and walk half mile to some mounds the other side of a traffic island, where views are excellent and most stuff has to taxi past.More distant are the Iberia wide bodies and possibly Lan/Avianca and Aeromexico, but within 300mm lens range.
Best Western Villa Barajas is near metro station (same road) and is reasonably priced.

Did we? Then again I wouldn’t have known CS-TTK from CS-TTJ as I was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage or 5! 😉
If you were only under the influence of ‘an alcoholic beverage or 5’, then I must have been under the unfluence of considerably more!
Actually, here she is!

Ahh, CS-TTK. Mr Spalding and myself bumped into her at FNC the other week!
Nice work as usual, Si. My favourite has to be ‘the odd ball’, I think!

Thanks for the comments guys; Barajas is pretty good for photography but you do need a car to get around the various spots. If you haven’t got a car then I would recommed staying in the town of Barajas (Best Western is not bad) and you can walk to the spot where the aircraft taxi past on their way t the northerly runways. You also get the Veuling/Air Nostrum and Iberia Baby Buses taxi past on there way to T3. When the sun is setting you can get some stunning shots of the aircraft on the taxiway…..but not when I was there!!!

love the spanair a320
I have to agree Si, the Spanair stands out to be as the most well composed & the sharpest shot.
Nice work.

Great shots Si, Barajas is really nice place to go:rolleyes:
My pick of the bunch is the Air Comet, Eurofly hybrid A330! Tis a nice angle, although its closely followed by the AM 777 in new colours!

Nice Viscount… what was it’s previous employer ? And did you mention a DC-8 ???
The Viscount picture was taken in Victoria BC Canada at the museum beside the airport. She was previously operated by Air Canada.
And here is a DC8 just for you mate.
