Hi all,
Does anybody out there know where the Mag Men Antoinette is today?
A flight in one of my vintage planes ( a genuine offer) for the first correct answer!
All the best.

I remember seeing one (possibly two) stored at Booker in the late 1960s. I think one went to an ex BOAC pilot in Laleham, Middx. (Ronnie somebody???) I could have sworn that one ended up with Cole Palen at Old Rhinebeck but its not listed on their website.
I’m pretty sure one was in an unrigged state at Booker in early 1970 (about the time that the first ,ex Egyptian, Yak -11 in U.K. was being restored there to flying condition and had a split flap jack by memory.)

Polish Antoinette
This is indeed one of the ex-Berlin machines.
An Antoinette replica is certainly something we are looking at, along with others.
However, the research, build and certification will cost big bucks and take a lot of time. For those who know me I want everything now or within reasonable timescales.
As an old git in my fifties, I want to be reasonably certain that I will still have a pilot medical when the fun bit happens.
OK, the time will work in my favour to some extent because I can lose the weight I’m sure I’ll need to gradually.
However, I would consider commissioning the professional build of one and give up the beer. Even bigger bucks but, what the heck, no pockets in a shroud!!
Hey – we could start up a proper ‘factory’ that doesn’t need to make a profit because the customer is me!

Thanks Mike – good to see it’s more accessible than when I took my shot – I can’t recall but believe it’s one of the ex-Berlin machines which became parted from their wings in transit.

The Polish Antoinette is original and I managed to gain access to it in deep store at Krakow. It’s in need of much TLC – I expect my photo will have Hairyplane in tears!
Maybe it is his next project. 🙂 🙂 I for sure would like to see it at Old Warden and it could keep the blinging team busy.

I’ve only ever heard of the Demoiselle (displayed in the museum here in town) and the Boxkite having made their way to Australia, and would be very interested to learn if any other MMATFM aircraft came out as well.
In terms of the MMATFM Antoinette, I’ve never heard of this one surviving, and even the previous threads about this aircraft on this forum have failed to really prove if it (or ‘they’ – if several were built, as is likely) still exists. The Owls Head Museum website doesn’t specifically say this, but other information reveals that this aircraft certainly has a ‘modern’ wing, which would confer with the later mods done to the MMATFM replica/s, however the same information suggested this replica was made by an American. Hence, it would seem unlikely to be an MMATFM aircraft.
Googling furiously hasn’t helped tracking down the MMATFM Antoinettes, but did reveal to me another surviving original aircraft – in the Polish Aviation Museum.
And the result of my round-about rambling above? Well it seems I won’t be planning a trip to England to take flight in one of Hairy’s lovely planes. Oh well.
Cheers,
Matt

It’s in Australia and featured in the May 1985 issue of FlyPast.
You aren’t thinking of the MMATFM Boxkite (Queensland) or the Santos-Dumont Demoiselle in Victoria are you?

Hants & Sussex Aviation were reported to have built to contract not one but three examples of the Antoinette for the film; two to airworthy status. By 1972 one was at Fairoaks whilst another of them was undergoing rebuild in Geneva, Switzerland.
In the US, in addition to the replica with the Owls Head organisation – it was reported that in the early 1990s an Antoinette replica was held in store under rebuild by the naissant Nevada Air & Military Museum which at that time expected to set up near Minden, Nevada USA. Perhaps it is one of the H&S examples – the machine may remain stored in that area?
Hope this might help.

No I don’t. And that IS the correct answer.
Shall I sit in the front, or the back?
