Magnets on engines

Heard today that in Russia during ww11 that large Magnets where attached to plane engines to give more power and better fuel economy.
Is there any truth in this or am I just being wound up.

I was going to mention it sounds like one of the the many patent devices to use unleaded petrol in older cars but I was effectively beaten to it. Advertising banned now I believe as lots of negative proof and no positive.

Snake oil.

Apparently there are some metal pellet things which the Russians threw in the fuel tanks of Aircobras to allow them to run on unleaded petrol.

That’s what the advert for the pellet thingies said so it must be true.

Did I mention how they made tanks run on water…….

That would be something along the lines of the Fuelsaver magnet system.
It’s been around for years and no matter how long it’s around, it’s still a load of BS.

Magnetos were part of the ignition system… but they are different from what you are talking about.

I hear a wind-up in progress.
