I saw a plane I’d been after for ages on Flightradar24 on it’s way into Manchester so nipped across for an hour session from 7.15pm til 8.15pm.
Great light, moody skies, rainbows and excellent variety made this a great session.
Hope you enjoy these….
Firstly the plane I’ve been after glides in (thanks Flightradar24)…

Lovely scheme….

More mundane but lovely light…

Then a silver machine on finals with a moody sky as a backdrop…
What a sky !!!!
Even Ryanair gets a look-in with the rainbow…
An Olympic schemer gets in on the act…
A flybe double…
More great light on our German visitor…
Then just before leaving for home we get an A319 from Pakistan. The only airport in western Europe to get this…
A shot for the reg…
As the Airblue was taxiing round an Air France airbus takes off in moody skies…
The star visitor taxies past in the fading light…
Plenty of other stuff came in but these were the highlights.
So in one hour a lovely retro, a shiny silver Cargo machine, an Olympic BA, a rainbow, lovely moody light and an A319 from Pakistan !
I find that pretty inspiring ! 😉

I’ve never said my photos are perfect. They certainly aren’t ! You’ve obviously just started posting your photos on airliners an JP judging by your comments on other people’s shots (they are screeners comments !)
There are no rules with photography – a photo looks good or it doesn’t – it’s an emotional thing – like music. Obviously a decent shot has to have basic stuff correct such as sharpish focus and light but the other stuff that you mention is just criteria set by JP and airliners to get a photo accepted on their site.
You mentioned aspect ratio not being 3:2 and change it ??? This is the point I am making – people can have what aspect ratio they like – is it wrong because it won’t get accepted by those sites ?
You say comments such as “wow great shots”, “great catch” or whatever are useless ? No they aren’t – we are not entering these photos into a competition – we are just sharing our recent trips and local airport visits.

Culpano – Well, for first, I would like to say sorry for all the stuff I did that annoyed you.
Then, I simply say that: I’m not making this comments because I want to screen other people photos, but simply because I think a comment with a suggestion, is much better that a comment with “Woow good! Yeah! fantastic”, they are useless.
Then, usually, highter is the level of the photographer, highter is my attention to details: like now, your photos are perfect, you are a good photographer, but, there is this small problem. Maybe you don’t noticed that, maybe yes and you don’t care.
I’m the photographer I am now, because of this comments, that improved me.
But yeah, if everyone don’t like my kind of comments, I will simply stop posting on this forum, no problem to me 🙂

Alberto – you are starting to annoy me now with your comments on technical aspects of photography. I am not asking you or anyone else to like my photos – it’s all about opinions after all. If someone says “blooming heck Culpano that shot is well out of focus” or “I find these schemes a bit boring” then that’s fine by me. If I see a batch of shots that don’t particularly interest me or are poor quailty I won’t comment. If I see something that catches my eye I will usually make a comment
However there seems to be a trend of technical based comments that in my opinion serve no purpose other than to annoy people (ok I’ll let other people speak for themselves but I’m annoyed a bit).
Comments such as…
However, on some, the white is not very well balanced, nothing bit to correct 🙂
Good pictures here, but, them are under-contrast and, why you don’t preserve the original aspect ratio (3:2)? They would look better then.
Good pictures here, with good light, but most of them are soft 🙁
Awesome!! Just center better the plane is some 🙂
A suggestion for the first one: If possible, crop it including the push-back vehicle 🙂
Just a hint: the horizon is not on level 🙂
Good shots, but I don’t light the lighting on the aircraft arriving from the front 🙂
Has this forum suddenly become Jetphotos or airliners.net now ????
Are you some unofficial screener (all your comments sound just like a.net and Jetphotos screener comments when a photo gets rejected).
Are we submitting these photos to some competition or merely sharing what aircraft we have seen on our travels, technically perfect or not ?
In my opinion a photo either looks good or it doesn’t. So what if the white balance, histograms, contrast, colour balance are not technically correct ?
With regards questioing someone’s aspect ratio ? He can crop them at whatever aspect ratio he likes !!! I crop mine at 16:9 because in my opinion they look better especially when showing them on a widescreen HD telly – 3:2 or 4:3 ratio in my opinion also has lots of wasted space below and above the plane.
Sorry if this sounds over-sensitive and it is quite reasonable to constructively criticise people’s photos but it’s nearly every set of people’s shots you have to make a comment.
Jetphotos and airliners.net sometimes miss the point completely about aviation photography and concentrate far too much on technical aspects. The amount of shots that get accepted that are poorly composed, winglets protruding into shots, ugly fences, tails of other planes crossing the middle of the body etc etc yet because the histogram and white balance is correct it gets accepted. Then a photo that has been rejected is full of colour, great composition, interesting light, clutter free etc etc is rejected because the histogram is wrong is missing the point.
I don’t really care if you like my photos or not alberto but if I need a photography lesson I’ll ask you thanks.
This board is fabulous means of sharing people’s recent trips but if we are getting unofficial screeners comments on them now I won’t be posting any more on here.

Hee hee I was waiting for that sort of response 😀

Stunning light on these, combined with the dark sky makes some very pleasing shots. Not a bad haul at all, especially the Air Blue A319, the sort of caliber of stuff which is regularly seen at SEN!

Champions League winners now Keith 😀
Still would have loved that Yakutia Cargo B757F though. I would have driven down for that.
