Seeking any information/pictures of Major Arne Austeen.
Austeen was born 1911 in Norway, he appears to be an only child.
Austeen was an engineer before the war, working for a time period in the town of Gjøvik. From what I understand he is from Frogn, Norway originally.
Austeen flew for several squadrons during the war;
124
332
64
611
331 (squadron leader) (flew MH828 FN-Y)
126 (squadron leader)
He was shot down by U-155 and crashed into the sea north of Kiel harbour flying RAF Mustang III KH 578 out of Bentwaters, Suffolk on escort for B-17 bombers.
Coordinates: 54`55N 10`07E
No trace of either pilot or airplane.
Last, just a general question. If I want to locate Major Austeen’s combat reports and such, where do I go? Hendon?

Combat reports are here:
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/ww2aircombat.asp
Search on Austeen. Three-and-a-half quid per file, but in some cases there’s several reports in a single file.

His activities on 331 and 332 should be in there.
There’s a World War II in Norway forum over here:
